Bavarian-born Claudia Hillmeier launched Prop & Peller fueled by her passion for pretzels and a life-long love of aviation. Inspired by the adventurous, pioneering spirit of Amelia Earhart—and a pilot herself—Claudia decided to take on a transatlantic mission of her own: to find the very best pretzel recipe in all of Bavaria and bring it to the United States.

Like Earhart, Claudia needed a navigator to help her on her journey to forever change the world of craft pretzels. Refusing to settle for anything but the best, she sought out legendary Oswald Piller, the most renowned pretzel baker in all of Bavaria. With his help, and the perseverance to ignore all the “no’s” she encountered along her way, Claudia successfully transported his world-famous recipe to the U.S., introducing Americans to the rich flavor and texture you can only find in an authentic Bavarian pretzel.
