George Stallings of Rocky Mount was the original creator of George's Sauces. George developed the barbecue sauce in his home kitchen and treated his appreciative friends and relatives to the spicy sauce. By the mid 1970's, his sauce production had grown into a thriving business.
In 1992, Beth Chappell purchased George's Sauces and moved it to a scenic location in Nashville, NC to its new production facility and offices. Hard Truth® Distilling Company is the newest branch of the Big Woods® and Quaff ON!® family, distilling craft spirits in Nashville, Ind.
Hard Truth Hills is proof that dreams come true.
Our adventure began in 2009 at the corner of Molly’s and Honeysuckle lanes in Nashville, Ind. with the original Big Woods restaurant. While brewing on a half-barrel system in a store-room behind the kitchen, here, we began to craft a look, a taste, and a one-of-a-kind experience for our guests.
We carried that experience into more restaurants, moved our brewing operations to their own facility, and started a distillery.
While all that was happening, we also began searching for the perfect place to re-imagine that original Big Woods experience....
The Hobnob Corner Restaurant is a great place to come for a wide assortment of meals including house-made pastries & loggers hash at breakfast (served on Saturday and Sunday only), an assortment of salads and house-made soups, sandwiches, and the NEW After Five Menu with Chef Eric Cole's creations.
The Hobnob is a family owned restaurant celebrating it's 34th year and has become a community favorite through the years.
