Frosty Jacks

Bringing back the 1950s Diner in Rural
Pennsylvania

In Pennsylvania, rural means hunting, fishing, hiking, four wheeling,
kayaking, living, dining, and putt-putt golf. Yes, dining, at a 1950s
diner with putt-putt golf is what you will find at Frosty Jacks, which
is located off the beaten path, up the hill on Newton Road. This
quiet, secluded Spot has dinners, from all over stopping in
for lunch, dinner, and ice cream
Rural is nothing new to diners. Peggy Sue's was the orginal
diner, built in 1954 with nine counter stools and three booths. Located
in the shadow of the Calico Mountains, it was built from railroad ties
and mortar from the nearby Union Pacific Railroad
rail yard, 10 miles north of Barstow, Calif., on Interstate 15 at the
Ghost Town Road exit, halfway between Southern California and
Las Vegas. Quite a rural location. From there, diners spread across
the United States.
Frosty Jacks was established as an ice cream parlor and
confectionery featuring fresh, homemade fudge. John Sands left
his grandson an inheritance, which sparked the new business. From
the orginal establishment came the added 1950's retro menu,
an ice cream bar and mianiature golf. The business relocated in
2010 to 922 Newton Road, off of Route 27, near Grand Valley. They
continued the 1950s diner theme and moved the miniature golf outdoors.
Owner Laurie Santillanes boasts that Frosty Jacks is a "step back in time,"
a good spot for reminiscing and enjoying old-time memorabilia, like the
classic Coca-Cola collection. Rock away to some "oldies" while ordering
something off a true "Happy Day" menu. Enjoy and old-fashioned root beer
float or one of the famous homemade waffle cones at the ice cream bar. Menu
items are prepared daily and cooked to perfection. The staff, will alwasy greet you
with a friendly "welcome to our place" attitude.
The menu offers a wide variety of food options, including burgers, hot dogs, paninis,
quesadillas, wraps, subs, salad (a grilled chicken salad with fruit is a summer special),
pizza, lots of side dishes (loaded fries, deep-fried pickles,
garlic parmesan fries, funnel fries, pepperoni balls, and many more), dinner baksets
(chicken, shrimp, and fish), desserts (peanut butter brownies, sundaes
and strawberry shortcake), and 32 flavors of ice cream.
Besides the 1950s diner and music atmosphere inside
Frosty Jacks, continue your experience outside with the 10-hole
miniature golf course.
Never leave without a box of homemade fudge, which is made on the
premises. A bag of penny candy to go is a good idea too.
Spring and summer hours for dine-in or take out (with delivery available
to Youngsville, Pleasantville, Pittsfield, Tidioute, Spartansburg, Titusville, Garland,
Grand Valley, & Some Spring Creek Area with Minimum orders) are Monday 5-9 p.m.,
Tuesday through Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday
from noon to 10 p.m., and Sunday noon to 9 p.m. Frosty Jacks accepts

order call 814-436-7012 or toll free 877-704-7012. Visit the website
at www.frostyjacks.com for seasonal updates and specials.
Next time you are out for a weekend family ride, a motorcycle cruise, or
exploring wooded terrain on the four-wheeler, stop at Frosty Jacks and grab
a bit, relax to the pace of the 1950s and play a little putt-putt golf.
