Eat By Northeast - EAT x NE

The Skinny Pancake and Higher Ground Present the first annual EAT X NE (Eat By Northeast) Local Food Festival taking place on the weekend of the fall equinox, Friday, September 19th, Saturday, September 20th, and Sunday, September 21st 2014 at Burlington’s Oakledge Park. Eat X NE will strengthen Vermont’s local food movement by welcoming the entire community to a free, all-ages festival that aims to raise over $20,000 in donations to local food non-profits, educates entrepreneurs, families and gardeners on the business, preparation and cultivation of local food and celebrates our vibrant culinary tradition through fun gatherings at the peak of our abundant harvest. The celebration will include free music by The Felice Brothers, Hug Your Farmer All-Star Band, Dan Zanes and more!

EAT. The festival's organizers deliberately timed EAT x NE with the seasonal harvest. Dozens of Vermont's most authentic farmers, chefs and food producers will collaborate on food offerings from over 20-plus vendors, free food samples, and chocolate and beer tasting featuring Lake Champlain Chocolates. The marquee food event takes place on Sunday with the ticketed Great Harvest Supper, featuring whole pig, goat, steer and calf roasted on site by Prohibition Pig, Misery Loves Company, the Farmhouse Group, and Hen of the Wood, respectively. Pingala Cafe will be providing healthy vegan alternatives!
