Roanoke City Market Building

The City Market Building in Downtown Roanoke, VA is an iconic historical building that has housed decades of entrepreneurs. Originally constructed as a meat market, the City Market Building has transformed with the times, but has always remained a center for economic activity and a hub for Downtown business.

Most recently the City Market Building underwent a $7.9 million renovation, closing in 2010 and reopening in September 2011. Through the renovation the City of Roanoke sought to reinvigorate the aging building while maintaining her historical traits and eclectic appeal. The first floor and mezzanines received a facelift, with new kitchens, lighting, and exposed brick walls. The renovation reflects the meat market era with the clean white tiles and concrete floors, while a bright, open, airy central garden in the middle of the first floor provides a welcoming eating environment for dining patrons.

The third floor of the City Market Building houses a premier Downtown event venue, Charter Hall. Capable of holding up to 500 people standing and 250 people seated, Charter Hall is a well appointed room with sophisticated styling and state of the art amenities.

Call the City Market Building office at 540-986-5992 for questions about renting Charter Hall.
