Do you have the same pies everyday?
Nope! Our pie menu changes frequently. In the savory category we always have a beef, a chicken, a vegetarian, and a vegan option. More often than not, we will have another type such as pork, lamb, or fish. We have Sausage Rolls and Spinach Rolls everyday, as well as a daily Pasty. Sweet pies don't change quite as often, and we have a number of 'standards', but they do change. We post our daily menu every morning around 11 here on Facebook and also on Twitter.
Can I call ahead and place an order?
Depends, if you want a larger amount of savory pies (more than say, 8 or 10) please give us enough notice (about a day) so that we can be sure to accommodate your order. For the most part though, it is first come, first served. Pies are ready to go and we have a pretty efficient system to serve you quickly! We do run out of some selections towards the end of the day, but try our hardest to keep the pies coming all day long!
If I want to make a large order of pies, how do I do that?
The best way is to email us (OrderProperPieCo@gmail.com) or give us a call (804.343.PIES) and let us know how many of each "genre" of pie you would like. 24 hours notice would be great, unless you want a much larger order. If so, please give us at least a week.
Do you sell whole sweet pies?
Yes! But give us at least 24 hours notice*. Either call us at 804.343.PIES, visit the shop, or send an email to OrderProperPieCo@gmail.com
We frequently have a small selection of whole pies available for sale on any given day, but if you have your heart set on a specific type, please plan ahead!
(*exceptions: If you would like an order larger than 2 or 3 whole pies, or if it is around the holidays (Thanksgiving or Christmas), please allow much more notice, as we can only accommodate a finite amount of orders, and spaces fill quickly!)
Our sweet pies are 9 inch deep dish pies. Here at the shop we cut them into 8 pretty hefty slices, but leave them uncut when ordered whole, so you could cut smaller slices if you prefer. Whole pies are $30+tax, with the exception of cream pies and nut pies, which are $35.
Do you make large savory pies?
No, our savory pies are 5 inch, individual, handheld pies.
What do I need to do to make an order?
Call, email, or visit the shop (we get quite busy around here sometimes, so if you call and we aren't able to get to the phone, send us an email and we will get back to you as soon as we get a break!) Let us know what pies you would like, the date and time you would like to pick them up, and a phone number we can reach you at. Keep in mind we are a small, busy shop and might not be able to accommodate all orders, but we will try our hardest!
How can I tell which pie is which?
The stamp on the bag is part of our handy-dandy Pie-dentification system. A kiwi bird means it's a chicken pie (but you would never, ever eat a kiwi bird!), a cow=beef, pig=pork, vegetarian has a silver fern, and so on...
How do I reheat a savory pie?
Slow and low! Please reheat in a 300° oven for about 25-30 minutes. Put your pie, uncovered, on a baking sheet. Ovens do vary, so keep an eye on it. You can stick a knife in it to check that the insides are nice and warm. The key to a perfect pie is not too hot and not too cold! Keep in mind that these instructions are if your pie is cold (straight outta the fridge). If your pie is still warm, lessen the time. If you have frozen your pie, defrost it a bit before reheating. Enjoy!
Do you have anything gluten-free?
Sorry, no! Our shop is just way too small and there is entirely too much flour around to safely be gluten-free.
Do you deliver?
Not at this point, but maybe someday!
What kind of payments do you accept?
Cash, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, and ApplePay
What is a kiwi?
An adorable, flightless bird native to New Zealand; also what New Zealanders are affectionately called.
