L’Antica Locanda is a unique, culinary Italian experience not to be missed.

L'Antica Locanda is an exceptional Italian restaurant located on York's most famous medieval street. The first thing you'll notice upon being seated in the candlelit, wooden-floored dining room is the wonderful all-Italian wine list. The second will be the vibrant specials boards, with an emphasis on fish and pasta. And then there is the menu itself, which is rich and complete with Italian classics created using food directly imported from Italy. We opted for the fillet of sea bass and squid ink pasta with prawns, with which we were, of course, offered black pepper, but also grey mullet bottarga (dry-cured fish roe): one of the most intensely salty yet delicious tastes there is for seafood pasta. Extras of bruschetta with delicious, bitter-sweet tomatoes, huge black olives and seared breads were also brought from the kitchen and were much appreciated complimentary treats. This is clearly a restaurant that is serious about its food its magnificent, authentic Italian food.
