We're the only bar and restaurant built over the seashore, right on the beach, and in front of the Garifuna village of Hopkins, Belize.
The bar provides Belizean Belikin beer and Lighthouse ale, and some lovely beers from Britain, Dominica, Guatemala, Germany, and St. Vincent Island. We also before dinner cocktails or a shot over the rocks, a couple of nice red and white wines for your meal, and a selection of sweet liqueurs for you to linger with after dinner for a while.
The restaurant offers lunch in the shade, or dinner by candlelight. We serve seafood specials, a blend of ‘surf and turf’ foods you love which are prepare in the special styles of the Garifuna, and the other Belizean peoples. That means dishes made with coconut milk, pineapple, mango or other seasonal fruits and vegetables. These are prepared fresh for you by our village chef. Your Garifuna server will help you make your order exactly the way you want it. Pick from fish, shrimps, lobster tail, beef, pork, or chicken prepared, in coconut milk, or smothered in tomatoes, green peppers, celery and cilantro leaves. Select an Irish potato, sweet potato, yam, coco yam, or cassava. And add a green salad with lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers, or maybe some cole slaw. All our food is organic.
Our desserts are beyond belief! Depending on what’s fresh in the market, we do heavy cream over banana bread or sweet potato pound (i.e. pudding), or a simple dish of ice cream. from the Belizean dairy run by Mennonites in the hills. The coffee is brewed fresh for you from Gallon Jug coffee plantation beans picked at the peak of ripeness in the hills of Belize. And we offer a choice of black tea, or fresh Belizean herbal teas.
Garifuna drummers play for you every Thursday. We make sure the drumming is hypnotic and not too loud! Sometimes, we bring in Garifuna dancers to entertain you too. You can indicate a tip for the entertainers right on your bill.
