Open since 1999- organic, fair-trade, and green. Before they were buzzwords, they were who we are. Serving the best coffee, smoothies and coffee freezes...
227 Hay Street is a two-story brick building circa 1914 in Fayetteville's historic downtown. It began it’s life as Johnson’s Café and was known for most of it’s later life as Brady’s Soda Shop.
In December 1999 it reopened as the home of Rude Awakening coffee house.
In 1998 Bruce and Molly Arnold and their daughter, Rhonda Yocum, purchased 227 Hay St. in historic downtown Fayetteville, NC. Our goal was to renovate the then-condemned building in accordance with the standards of the Historic Preservation Office. The storefront is original including the leaded glass panel. Upstairs houses a one bedroom apartment and downstairs is the home of the best coffee in Fayetteville.
We hope to see you there.
