The Lord's Neighborhood Diner is located in the lower level of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 700 Callahan Drive, Bremerton, Washington 98310. It is open from 12:00 PM to 4:30 PM every Saturday. All aspects of the Lord’s Neighborhood Diner operation are conducted by community volunteers. This Christian based organization opens its arms to all who are in need of the loving care from their brother and sisters in life.
The Lord’s Neighborhood Diner (LND) was founded by Ms. Delsie Peebles in 1997 and she managed the day-to-day operates until the time of her death in 2006. At that time, the Diner was open on both Saturdays and Sundays and served approximately 350 to 400 meals a week. Delsie’s son Michael, her daughter and son-in-law Sylvia and John Murphy, assumed operational control until the LND closed in 2007 due to the lack of liability insurance.
In May, 2008, the LND reopened under the direction of Mike and Shannon Goodson and a Board of Directors was established to oversee operations. The LND continues to use St. Paul's Episcopal Church Parish Hall to serve meals, but operates as an independent entity from the church. The Goodson’s continued to manage the LND until they resigned in 2013.
The LND receives most of its food from a Northwest Harvest food distribution program. The remainder of the food and consumable products use to provide meals are purchased with funds donated by community church groups, businesses and individuals.
The mission of the LND is to provide a hot, nutritious meal to those who are hungry. All persons can come to the LND and share a meal and fellowship with other members of our community. No one is turned away.
In addition to the food program, the LND provides general health services in the form of showers, clothing and health service literature including contact information for community programs.
