The first Huey's was opened in Atlanta by Mr. Bobby Isaacson. With such success he decided to open a Huey's in Savannah, Ga. He found the perfect spot in an old cotton warehouse that was built in 1815, located on beautiful river street! So, in July of 1987, Huey's on the River was born. A few years after opening his New Orleans restaurant, Bobby would soon have a new
neighbor, Bill Hall. As fate would have it, Bill was born and raised on the bayous of New Iberia, Louisiana which is only 5 minutes from Avery Island, the birthplace of Tabasco Sauce. Although his work with the Waffle House is what brought Bill to Savannah, his love for Cajun food could not be ignored. After plenty of recipe swapping, Bobby convinced Bill to join him at Huey's and become his partner. Eventually, Bobby wanted to explore other business ventures and so Bill bought him out and the rest is History.
Huey's is and always has been family owned and operated. The key to our success is in the hands of our wonderful staff, most importantly the ones who have been with us since the beginning. Ashlynn Boley started working at Huey's in 1987 hosting and making beignets. In 1995 she returned as a manager and eventually became our general manager. Mrs. Angela was hired to run our prep kitchen before our doors even opened. Mrs. Lavonia and Mrs. Cheryl, who run our kitchen line, have both been with us since our first year of operation. Tony Anderson, who has been a loyal employee, came to work with us in 1989 and Sharon Love joined our team in 1993. They are two of our top servers. None of this would be possible without their and many others hard work and dedication. It is our hope that our beautiful location, dedicated staff, and our genuine Louisiana style food will all come together to give our guests the perfect dining experience. Just make sure to save room for beignets!
