Friends, conversation and a perfect pint. That’s what we’re talking about. Here's where we celebrate over 200 years of brewing experience with our Crafted for the Moment campaign. Click video for a taster.
You know that moment.
The after-work pint moment – with that first sip of fresh, hoppy taste. Or the Sunday-afternoon-with-the-papers pint – smooth, comforting, lazy. And the one just before a three-hour animated conversation sparks off….about nothing of any importance.
They’re all moments worth remembering – and celebrating. So we’ve created this Facebook page where you can share those perfectly crafted moments, new, old, yet to come.
The thing about great moments like these is, they don’t happen by accident. Even the most spontaneous ones. They need good company, good banter and good beer in equal measure.
All of which you’ll find right here.
So it’s worth popping in and enjoying the fine conversation, whenever you can. But first, here’s a little bit of history about the people responsible for the beer that makes those crafted moments possible…
HISTORY
We’ve been handcrafting ale in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, England since 1799. It’s no coincidence that we’ve stayed put for 200 years. The soil in this area produces the best malting barley in the world. And we’re firmly of the opinion that if something is good – stick with it.
Our story begins when Benjamin Greene, an enterprising nineteen year old, arrived in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, seeking to make his fortune. After securing his first business purchase – a working brewery – he began brewing ale using the clear, fresh water from the chalk well that still runs under the Brewery today.
In 1887, the brewery’s attention to craft and skill attracted the interest of fellow master-brewer Frederick King, owner of the adjacent St Edmunds Brewery. He approached with a contract, and left as Partner. Greene King and Sons was born.
Today, we’re still committed to finding new ways to deliver that perfect Greene King moment. In 2009 we introduced Greene King Revolution, the first major innovation in cask beer dispensing. Landlords up and down the country can now always deliver a pint exactly to their customers’ preference: the perfect Northern pint, with its smooth and creamy finish, or the Southern favourite, with its clean and crisp hoppier finish.
Times may change. But at Greene King the craft remains the same. We know what it takes to make a perfectly balanced pint of beer – which is why Greene King IPA, is one of the UK’s most popular real ales today.
What with all this talk of crafting, it seems like the perfect moment for a clean, smooth refreshing pint of Greene King IPA.
