Seasonal French Country Harvestfare™, featuring fine dining and bar menu, extensive wine list, patio, and private dining and event spaces.
Pronounced “Shay New”, and meaning “our home” in French, Schenectady’s only authentic, French-inspired restaurant is located on Union Street’s restaurant row, steps from Union College, Proctors Theatre, the Stockade Historic District, and Jay Street shopping.
Andy Chestnut, Director of Wine and Spirits, and Heather Chestnut, Managing Director, lovingly reproduce the enchanting ambiance of the French countryside in downtown Schenectady, and welcome guests from near and far into their restored c.1875 house, each room embraces its own unique colour theme, highlighted by exquisite mismatched French country fabrics, antique furniture, and original French artworks. The bar room, with traditional French zinc bar top, and second floor lounge both feature functioning fireplaces in-season.
Chef de Cuisine, Rob Gavel, coined the term Harvestfare™ to describe his style of adopting primarily local seasonal provisions into his menuscape, which focuses on French and Swiss-French regions that afford a similar climate to New York’s Hudson and Mohawk Valleys.
In addition to his fine dining menu, Rob has designed a seasonal, small-plate menu available exclusively in the bar room and second floor lounge.
Andy, Heather, and Rob, along with their skilled staff, are devoted to providing you with a memorable dining experience time and time again.
