Astoria Kotor

Luxury and charm of old centuries...

As most of you are already familiar with our hotel in Budva here is an introduction describing our new hotel in Kotor which we hope you'll get a chance to visit soon:
The idle shape and eminenceness...
Boutique hotel Astoria is located on the square of flour, in the old town of Kotor. Situated in one of the most significant palaces of Kotor – The palace of the Buća family, built during the end of the XIII century. Firstly built in gothic style, the palace has lost its genuine monumentality during numerous modifications after the devastating earthquakes of the years 1667 and 1979. Presently the only preserved part of the entire palace is the gothic window also known as a mullion located in the hotel’s restaurant.
The hotel was designed by a Greek architect, Virginia Kavraki, who as well designed the Astoria boutique hotel in Budva although which has a minimalist style.
The concept of the design of hotel Astoria relies on the mistery of the ancient Greek alphabet, by which each letter had its own name with unique mistical meanings. The meanings of the letters are presented on the walls of the restaurant on the first floor, up to where the transliteration in English can be seen in the lounge bar on the groung floor of the hotel.
The rooms, as well, carry instead of the common numbering the first nine letters or the acient Greek alphabet – Alpha, Vita, Gama, Delta, Epsilon, Zita, Ita, Thita and Iota. Each room has been individualy designed and the furniture carefuly selected from a special collection from the renowned Italian company Selva.
Replications of the baroque furtniture, rich curtains, luxurious ceillings and armchairs within the hi-tech enviroment have all fould a new hedonistic paradigm in this hotel.
The architect was guided by the idea to sustain the timeless charm of the old palace, while at the same time adapting it to the cosmopolitan life style of the modern beneficiaries, forming a new spacious sculpture.
A simlpe enviroment is the achemimal key of this place. It welcoms the freedom of identity, emotions and thoughts, consequently humanity and pecularity are the most treasured details of such an ambient.
This is why this place is more than just a simple hotel, designed so it meets your personal desires. This place is alike a small enthnographic museum, a distant eastern temple for meditation and isolation, a lounge room for cosmopolitan socializing …
All materials are eniterly natural and a part of rare world cultural traditions, inharitages and myths. They have been combined in an unusual combination of surfaces and in a surprising chromatic harmony. Gold, silver, beige and black emphasize the sophisticated and luxurious nature of the essence of baroque, as implemented into the interior of the modern age they give it an essental dose of exeptionallity. The inocence and simplicity of the shape combined with complexity and luchury create an astonishing contrast.
The entire concept has been fulfilled with a tree trunk placed in the ground level, reaching to the first floor. The tree presents the “tree of life” while the staircase has been decorated with the replica of Michelangelo’s fresco “The original sin” as a symbol of eternal struggle between good and evil. The painting was replicated by an academic painter from Podgorica, Mr. Saša Vukotić. The hotel has 9 rooms, a restaurant and a lounge-bar, closed terrace beside the ramparts as well as a smaller open terrace in front of the hotel. It has been equiped by the highest standards and has been categorized as a 4**** hotel.
The beauty intellection of this place remains with a touch of Greek clasiccism, ideal form and nobility, but as well raffish roman hedonism.

More than just a luxury hotel, boutique hotel Astoria presents a symbol of elegance and delight, proof that the art of living exists and endures. This ornament within the baroque palace remains uncommon among the world of hospitality; the tranquility and discretion which the hotel resigns are unique and unforgettable while the royally designed interior glances with a gloss of old gold.
