A warm and inviting family establishment, with full service food, drink, & entertainment...as Grandma Mollie used to say "come in if your good looking!"

Mollie's Public House

Mollie's Public House is named after my grandmother Mollie (Flynn) Carroll. She was born in County Westmeath Ireland, some time in the early 1900's -No one in the family is actually sure of the correct year grandma was born...she liked to keep that bit of information a secret! In her late teens, Mollie left Ireland and moved to the south side of Chicago wth her sister Margaret - how and when she came is yet another Carroll mystery. Together Maggie and Mollie were true pioneers of their generation. They owned an operated many businesses, one being a local deli, during a time when a woman did not work outside the home. Mollie created a successful life for herself, not only in her professional life, but in her personal life as well. She married my grandfather - Martin, originally from County Sligo, and raised two sons - Rich and my father, John. My grandmother lived her life to the fullest every day until her passing in 1992. She was a strong Irish woman, devoted to her faith, with a wry wit and an uncanny knack of delivering her famous one liners! Mollie's Public House slogan, "Come in if you're good looking", was grandma's familiar greeting to everyone and anyone who paid her a visit. Not only has my grandmother been an influence in my life, but my parents - John and Sue Carroll and my other grandparents, Paul and Adele Darrah, have also played a large part in who I am and how I got to this place in my life. I have been very fortunate to have a large and supportive family - who all love life - a good laugh - and a great gathering with friends, family and even strangers. Mollie's Public House is not just named after my grandmother - It represents my entire family, those with us and those who have passed - it represents the friends, both old and new - and the strangers of whom I hope will find a home in Mollie's Public House.
